ShopCutCNC machines are incredibly intuitive and easy to operate, even for those who are new to plasma cutting. Below are a few common questions people ask regarding our machines:
The size of the cutting table needed depends on the material size you are cutting and the space you have available. You want the machine to be large enough for your current needs and any future needs. Check into your cost of material. Many times a 4’ by 8’ sheet of material is cheaper than 4’ by 4’. This savings can quickly pay for the upgrade cost on a larger machine. Double check existing space so that the operator has enough room to work.
Each CNC plasma cutter has a different rating. Some machines can cut up to a ½ inch and others over an inch. Check our product page for details on the cutting capacity of each plasma power supply.
We provide a detailed manual which will show you how to operate the machines and answer most questions immediately. You will have access to online video tutorials like these with questions and answers. You also will have phone and email support with friendly, knowledgeable technicians.

Plasma is a newer technology with several clear advantages over the oxyfuel. First, plasma cuts any type of metal which conducts electricity. Stainless steel and aluminum are impossible to cut the oxyfuel, while plasma will zip right through them. Second, plasma cuts much faster due to a narrow width of cut (precise kerf). Third, it has a narrow heat affected zone. This way the surrounding area is not warped or has the paint damaged. Fourth, plasma uses clean dry, air so that cutting is less expensive, cleaner, and more convenient.
This will depend on the cutter:
- PM45 – 200 – 240, 1-phase, 380 – 480, 3-phase
- PM65 – 200 to 600, 1 or 3-phase
- PM85 – 200 to 600, 1 or 3-phase
- PM105 – 200 to 600, 3-phase
- PM125 – 480 to 600, 3-phase
- ShopCutCNC – 115/230, 1-phase, 10amp
We will also supply a laptop computer: Windows 10/i3 or better/8gb RAM/64bit
The computer hooked to the cutting machine needs to be running Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, or Windows 10. It can be either 32 or 64-bit version of Windows. You’ll need a USB connection on a laptop, desktop or Mac.
Many customers find it best to use two computers. One in the office or at home to create the shapes. Thes second is at the shop and dedicated to the machine.
